Popular men’s clothing range of the 1970′s that one wouldn’t been seen dead wearing now. Unless one was a dictator in a very hot country of course, or perhaps someone out on a real Safari who wants to look more like Roger Moore in ‘Octopussy’ than he did.
Back in 1975, I had three of these suckers. All identical except for the colour (beige, dark blue and light blue). The biggest problem was to decide what shoes to wear with the ruddy things.
Believe me, no footwear truly matches one’s safari suit better than brown or cream-coloured ’slip-on’s’ and no socks.
The best (and probably the only) thing a safari suit has over the conventional lounge suit is pockets. Lots and lots of pockets! Designed no doubt to hide one’s freshly slaughtered ivory from the authorities.
