In the case of Eric Joyce MP this being, ‘£600′.
This is how much it cost the Scottish politician recently when he cut off a Home Office imposed community order curfew tag that was attached to his own leg.
A punishment imposed upon Mr Joyce following a punch-up in a bar in the House of Commons, during which three other MPs were attacked by him.
You might remember that, upon arrival of police officers, Joyce exclaimed, ‘You can’t touch me, I’m the elected member of parliament for Falkirk!’
At which point the Police Officers on duty quickly read Mr Joyce his Rights, bundled him into the back of an awaiting police car and drove off in the style of ‘The Sweeney’.
Joyce told the Magistrate that he felt compelled to cut off his tag in order to take part in a parliamentary charity boat race.
Sadly for Joyce that as soon as he severed his tag, an alarm sounded in the offices of a security firm and Eric’s race was over before it had begun.
Price tag: £600!
All because of a charity boat race and for earlier slamming his fist into the ‘boat race’ of another MP.
Parliamentary correspondent and Eric Joyce’s old drinking buddy ‘Jessie J’ sang on Platform 4 of ‘Dreamland Junction’ last night…. and offered us all the following statement;
I find it quite funny, funny, funny,
That they fined him lotsa money, money, money.
He’s one of Ken Clarke’s lags,
And he cut off his leg tag,
So they fined him six tonney, tonney, tonney,
And that’s a lot of money, money, money,
Plus they dragged him back to his place,
And he missed the friggin’ boat race….

‘Leg Tag’ by ‘Jessie J’. OUT NOW! (but not beyond the curfew).
