The Vengabus

17032-300

Public transportation device as seen in the 1990′s pop video for the 1998 hit, “We Like To Party” by the dutch group, ‘Vengaboys’.

This song was all the rage in ‘Euroclub’ nightclubs at the time.

God knows why!

They clearly could only play one chord (which was ‘A-flat major’). So every performance turned out to be a long, drawn-out affair.

Its senseless tune and equally brainless lyrics were nevertheless soaked up by the half-naked, aftershave-stenched, liver-pickled, brain-dead, nineties disco-freak.

It’s quite frightening to think that these same people are now clogging up our roads in their MPV’s during the hours of the ‘school run’ and are busy calculating if they can still pay the minimum payments on their credit cards and still meet the demand of their monthly Mortgage repayment. But that’s life, I guess!

Basically, the ‘Vengaboys’ pop video consisted of nothing but a group of twentysomethings driving around somewhere hot in a dodgy-looking bus whilst they all chanted, ‘The Vengabus is coming…and everybody’s jumping’.

This being presented via the same seven notes (the same chord at the same beat) ad nauseam until listeners start screaming and considering mass suicide.

Mind you, if Peterborough City Council get there way, the Vengabus will be the only public transportation omnibus left on the road for you to get into town on!
